For us, biblical counseling is not just another ministry, but a true passion. It is a great privilege to be able to participate in the practical ministry of Jesus Christ, and to see Him powerfully at work in people’s lives. Biblical counseling is truly important, and it can be extremely effective in helping people through their challenges. It promotes and stimulates a much deeper and closer relationship with the Lord. However, it also carries a high degree of responsibility. For this reason, we take biblical counseling training quite seriously.
Our Biblical Counseling Training
We are not a school or an educational institution. Therefore, the training we offer in this particular field will not lead to a degree. Instead, it is a practical training for a special ministry within the context of the church. It will prepare you to be effective in the use of God’s word to help, encourage, guide and support your brothers and sisters in need. The training is intensive and in many ways demanding. We believe it needs to be so in order to prepare you for the realities of this unique ministry.
Our center is recognized by the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC) as a counseling center and an affiliate ministry, and accredited as a training center for certification by the association (see: IABC Training Centers). Our pastor and director of biblical counseling, Dr. Luciano Cozzi, is a mentor in the association, and has served the church in this particular role for many years.
We offer our biblical counseling training in person, at our counseling center, as well as online. The online training is organized with a modular structure. It will guide you through the theory of biblical counseling online, through sequential modules each with its own quizzes and final exam. In addition to the online training, we offer intensive full-day seminars at our counseling center. These address the more practical aspects of this ministry and provide limited hands on experience.
In order to obtain certification by IABC, you will need to complete all the core training listed below, and have completed the biblical counseling internship. We strongly encourage training in the electives as well in order to meet the continuing educational requirements in the field of biblical counseling. We hope, in time, to add more electives as the Lord provides.
